True love is eternal. It has been the subject of books, songs, poems and legends throughout history for as long as humans have recorded their thoughts.

A true love story is one that inspires hope when the world has become hopeless,  courage when the world has no more heroes, and belief when the world has weathered too many lies. Sometimes, there exists a love story so fantastic, even the cynical masses have to wake up and take note. Recognition of true love surpasses logic and reasoning. True love is beyond explanation, although many have tried. 

How do you know it’s true love? You just know. That statement is not meant to be trite. There exists a knowing so deep within the human spirit, it cannot be denied. It is the knowing that exists within those depths to which I am referring.

Everyone has heard of those true love stories. A few are fortunate to experience one for themselves. Maybe true love was discovered at first sight. Maybe it was found in the girl or boy next door. Maybe it was recognized long after the first meeting.

In 1844, Robert Browning developed an admiration for Elizabeth Barrett’s poetry. Their relationship began with their letters to one another, months before they met in person. Their love and admiration grew long before they gazed into one another’s eyes. They gave us one of the greatest love stories of the nineteenth century.

Is it possible to know the identity of your true love before you ever meet? Is it possible to find your true love in a world filled with broken hearts, broken trusts, and broken promises? Yes. It happened to me.
